It’s been a whirlwind of a year at Together Against Cancer! We’ve been working flat out on promoting the charity and building our presence online, within public communities and beyond!
By far the biggest leap we’ve made this past year has been the opening of our very first Education and Wellness Centre. In the first 9 months, we had over 700 visitors come along for either a workshop, treatment or support and advice. And the feedback we’ve received has been fantastic! So good in fact, that we’re already looking for a bigger centre, as we’ve outgrown the facilities!
Based in the East Midlands, UK, the Education and Wellness Centre is open to everybody, regardless of age or health status. It houses a kitchen (filled with an array of healthy organic produce and superfoods), a workshop/seminar room, 2 therapy rooms and a one-to-one consultation room. We offer free workshops promoting the importance of nutrition, detoxification, mindfulness and relaxation. Cancer patients can also benefit from free therapies such as massage, aromatherapy, reflexology, life alignment and reiki. There are weekly yoga classes and a new Tai Chi class is also planned for next year.
Even more exciting than the rapid growth and popularity of the centre, is that we have also recently been awarded Best Cancer Support Service in the ‘Live Better With..’ Spotlight Awards. Check us out here… https://livebetterwith.com/community/best-cancer-service-spotlight-tac/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=awards. This is a fantastic achievement for our very first year and we’re super proud – it’s touching to know we’re making such a profound difference in people’s lives.
Future plans for the centre also include healthy cooking classes, a 3 week integrated wellness course, seasonal supper clubs for fundraising and Qi gong. We’ll also start delivering our workshops around the country, so that the information we’re offering is accessible to as many people as possible.
Exciting times ahead! And we’d just like to take the opportunity to extend our thanks to everybody who has helped make this past year such a success – volunteers, donors, staff members and our centre users who we’ve shared such beautiful moments with.
There have of course been times when things haven’t been so easy, and some people’s journey’s have been harder than others. But every one of us has connected on one level or another and collectively utilised each other’s strengths. And together, we’ve become stronger than ever.
So here’s HUGE LOVE, coming from everybody at Together Against Cancer, going straight out to the world. Here’s to another great year of growth, health and happiness to all.
